**What is this lesson?**

Wow! You're ready to take on some more challenging numbers in this lesson. This lesson gives practice in some of the less used (but still important!) two digit numbers.

Even though this lesson focuses on the numbers 20 to 40, the concept applies to all numbers less than a hundred. Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two. Eighty, eighty-one, eighty-two.

How do I teach this lesson?

This lesson builds on several earlier numbers lessons, Numbers 1-10 in *The ABC's*, Numbers 10-20 in *The Zoo*, and Numbers 10-100, also on *The Zoo*. If students consistently watch the DVD, they should be able to pick up this lesson quickly. The main point of this lesson is to give repeated practice in more complicated numbers. The goal is for students to become familiar and comfortable with all the number between 1 and 100. You can continue to use games and review to make sure that students are getting a firm grasp on numbers.

*Teaching Hint:*

Students often have trouble distinguishing the different between thirteen and thirty, fifteen and fifty, etc. A good way to check to see that they know the difference is to see if they can write the number when you say it to them. Be sure to let them hear the difference lots and lots of times and give tons of room for mistakes.
